Missionary Society of St. Columban to launch second season of Jubilee for the Earth: Biodiversity and Our Sacred Story

Hong Kong - On August 31, the Missionary Society of St. Columban will launch the second season of its podcast, Jubilee for the Earth: Biodiversity and Our Sacred Story.

Jubilee for the Earth is about the beauty of God’s creation and the threats it faces. Over the course of six episodes that will be released weekly throughout the Season of Creation, the second season of the podcast will explore biodiversity loss and a related issue or topic like climate change, indigenous peoples, or young people.

"Our age of ecological crisis is challenging us to act differently: to live more sustainably and to build social systems that prioritize the common good. But it’s also challenging us to think differently too," said Wesley Cocozello, Communications and Programs Manager for the Columban’s JPIC team in the United States, as well as host and producer of Jubilee for the Earth. "We hope that this second season of Jubilee for the Earth can accompany people of faith as they seek to expand their spiritual and moral imaginations around the crucial social and ecological issues of our time."

"The world must listen to the voices of young people and Indigenous people," said Josefa Cariño Tauli, Policy Co-coordinator of the Global Youth Biodiversity Network and contributor on Episode 11 of Jubilee for the Earth. "Climate change and biodiversity loss affects our futures. We hold the collective strength and capacities to lead our own communities and the global community to an equitable and sustainable world in harmony with nature."

About the Missionary Society of St. Columban

The Missionary Society of St. Columban is a Catholic society of priests and lay people who live in solidarity with those who are made poor and marginalized, including the wounded earth. We put this experience into dialogue with Scripture, Catholic Social Teaching, and science, and this has compelled us to find ways to restore our relationships with God’s creation. We believe that ethical behavior must no longer be confined to our relationship with God and other human beings, but must include all of creation too.
